One Nine 5 Eco Travel Wash Bag Review

There are plenty of washbags on the market, however, with sustainability at the forefront of consumer minds, marketing is often engineered to oversell their commitments.

In this review, I will be looking at One Nine 5, who utilise a return to recycle scheme and utilised recycled polyester inside the bag. Their wash bag is fairly easy to pack thanks to its flat design and curved shape. Additionally, the bag features a carrying loop which combined with a hero clip means this bag can be hung up practically anywhere.

Upon opening the postage bag, I was greeted with a biodegradable bag which disintegrates with hot water. Inside was the wash bag. The exterior branding is subtle, which I always like to see. The rear of the bag has a zip with a hanging loop within. Inside is a removable TSA clear bag which is replaceable in case it goes missing or is damaged. Removing it you can see the pockets behind it. Also inside the bag is a loop for a toothbrush, and a zip to store items.

Specifications

The Eco Travel Wash Bag offers a range of compartments for storing and separating your toiletries. The bag has finely balanced internal compartments, a without taking up prime packing space.

  • Elasticated pockets — Suitable for keeping small items, which sit behind the clear TSA pouch.
  • Clear TSA Pouch — The clear pouch can store a range of items and be removed using a dual magnetic system. The pouch is best suited for liquids, so it can be inspected when travelling.
  • • Internal Zipped Pocket — Runs behind the toothbrush loop and is good for storing items which may fall out of the elastic loop.
  • • External Zipped Pocket — Features a hanging loop, but is also perfect for storing a few slim items.

Overall, I am satisfied with the organisation; however, I struggle to fit everything inside due to carrying soap bars and a full-sized shaver.

Aesthetics

So far, through using the wash bag, I have managed to fit a range of the toiletries I take on holiday without affecting its slim profile. Personally, I like the minimal branding, which could be easily missed on the exterior. Similarly, the interior features an aesthetic design.

However, the slim profile which makes it easy to pack, results in me struggling to fit my full-size electric shaver inside, resulting in me keeping it separate.

One Nine 5 offers a free UK return to recycle scheme in partnership with TerraCycle. One Nine 5 says this helps to “ensure that all materials from the items you return are either reused or recycled.” The brand explains that they only offer pre-paid shipping to those based in the UK. However, anyone outside the UK who wants to return a product for recycling can cover the shipping costs. One Nine 5 say that UK and international users of their return to recycle scheme will be provided with a 25% off discount code for your next purchase.

What Do I like about the Eco Travel Wash Bag?

The first trip with this backpack was for a 3 day (2 night) stay as part of a residential trip with the school I work in. Below is everything I took, however, I may have missed a few things as I had to take a lot, as we had to pack for rain, and sun, as well as be self-sufficient with providing our towels and toiletries.

Verdict

I own the Eco Travel Wash Bag in black; however, the brand offers grey, pink and blue options. The wash bag features a dual zip opening, allowing you access from either side. Additionally, the exterior loop paired with a hero clip makes this wash bag able to be hung up easily when counter space is limited.

By opening the wash bag fully, it is easy to access every compartment, made easier with the magnets holding the clear zipped bag.

Personally, it is not often I use a wash bag so it looks practically brand new, although should you choose to clean the product's outer material it is recommended to use a none abrasive method.

As mentioned earlier, I am unable to keep my shaver within the wash bag, which means I have to carry it separate. I feel this is because of the slimmer profile the wash bag has when compared to comparable products.
