Eco Awareness Days: 3-Month Calendar (July to September 2025)

Here are some of the bigger and lesser known environmental consciousness, days, weeks, and months celebrated in both the UK and around the globe between January and March 2026. 

Many of these days serve to raise awareness about significant environmental concerns, while the international animal days also highlight the dire situation of each species.

Plastic Free July – Wednesday 1st to Friday 31st July 2026

Every year, Plastic Free July is a month-long initiative that promotes the decision to forgo single-use plastic packaging and goods.

Don't Step on a Bee Day – Friday 10th July 2026

This yearly awareness day serves as a gentle reminder to be mindful of your actions, while also highlighting the critical role bees play in our ecosystem and food supply.

Shark Awareness Day – Tuesday 14th July 2026

Shark Awareness Day – held every year on the 14th of July – is a wildlife day that aims to dispel myths about sharks, whilst raising awareness about the plight of the shark.

Big Butterfly Count – Friday 17th July to Sunday 9th August 2026

Butterfly Conservation uses the Big Butterfly Count, a UK-wide citizen science survey, to evaluate the state of the environment. To participate, simply tally the number and kind of butterflies (and day-flying moths) you spot over the course of fifteen minutes.

Love Parks Week – Friday 24th July to Sunday 2nd August, 2026

Love Parks Week is a week-long event hosted by Keep Britain Tidy that aims to encourage people nationwide to celebrate their amazing green spaces.

Bog Day – Sunday 26th July 2026

Every year on the fourth Sunday of July, bogs, fens, swamps, and marshes are celebrated with an annual event called Bog Day.

International Tiger Day – Wednesday 29th July 2026

With the WWF leading the charge, International Tiger Day offers an opportunity to promote tiger conservation efforts globally and bring attention to the predicament of these remarkable big cats.

International Clouded Leopard Day – Tuesday 4th August 2026

International Clouded Leopard Day is a day devoted to raising awareness about the clouded leopard, a beautiful big cat found in the forests of Southeast Asia.

World Lion Day – Monday 10th August 2026

Let's use this day to spread awareness of the difficulties these famous big cats face in their conservation.

World Elephant Day – Wednesday 12th August 2026

Let's reflect on the issues that elephants face on this day: poaching, habitat loss, conflict between humans and elephants, and mistreatment in captivity.

International Orangutan Day – Wednesday 19th August 2026

On International Orangutan Day, people unite to honor the orangutan, the most legendary casualty of the devastation caused by the palm oil industry.

Organic September – Tuesday 1st to Wednesday 30th September 2026

The goal of the Soil Association's month-long Organic September campaign is to increase public awareness of the numerous advantages of eating and farming organically.

Second Hand September –  Tuesday 1st to Wednesday 30th September 2026

For 30 days in September, Oxfam is encouraging people to only purchase used goods through a campaign called Second-Hand September.

Zero Waste Week – Monday 7th to Friday 11th September 2026

Each year, Zero Waste Week is a campaign to raise awareness both online and offline. To save money, preserve resources, and protect the environment, it aims to assist homeowners, businesses, organizations, schools, universities, and community groups in reducing landfill waste.

Big River Watch – Date to be Announced

The Big River Watch, organised by The Rivers Trust, is seeking citizens from UK and Ireland to study our waterways.

The Great British Beach Clean – Friday 18th to Sunday 27th September 2026

The Great British Beach Clean invites people from all over the United Kingdom to visit the coast to support a beach clean-up. The Marine Conservation Society's conservation efforts are then guided by the data gathered from the litter.

World Clean Up Day – Sunday 20th September 2026

Taking place annually on September 20th, World Clean Up Day brings together millions of volunteers, governments, and organizations from 191 nations to address the world's waste issue.

Fair Trade Fortnite – Monday 21st September to Sunday 4th October 2026

Fair Trade Fortnight honors the farmers and laborers who produce the world's food and advances fair trade.

World Car Free Day – Tuesday 22nd September 2026

World Car Free Day encourages people to find alternative ways to avoid using their car to travel.

The International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste – Tuesday 29th September 2026

Each year we waste tonnes of food, on this day let's reflect on what food we waste and how we can prevent it, helping save money and sending food to the bin.
