Eco Awareness Days: 3-Month Calendar (April to June 2026)
Here are some of the bigger and lesser known environmental consciousness, days, weeks, and months celebrated in both the UK and around the globe between January and March 2026.
Many of these days serve to raise awareness about significant environmental concerns, while the international animal days also highlight the dire situation of each species.

April
World Aquatic Animal Day – Friday 3rd April, 2026
Every year, on the 3rd of April, World Aquatic Animal Day is celebrated. This dedicated day shines a spotlight on marine life and the challenges they face across the globe.
International Beaver Day – Tuesday 7th April 2026
Each year, the 5th of January is designated as National Bird Day. The day, initiated by the Avian Welfare Coalition, aims to alleviate the distress of birds. The organisation raises public awareness of the destructive bird trade, the realities of egregious bird breeding facilities, and measures to enhance the well-being of birds already in captivity.
World Curlew Day — Tuesday 21st April 2026
World Curlew Day aims to raise awareness of the plight of the curlew. It’s also a key platform to highlight the need to protect their wetland habitats.
Crow & Raven Appreciation Day – Monday 27th April 2026
The 27th of April sees the celebration of Crow & Raven Appreciation Day. This is an occasion dedicated to raising awareness about these intelligent and often misunderstood birds.
Earth Day – Wednesday 22nd April 2026
Earth Day is an annual event which seeks to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
First held on April 22, 1970, the event is now in its 56th year. The day now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide.
International Mother Earth Day – Wednesday 22nd April 2026
International Mother Earth Day falls on the same day as Earth Day. It brings people across the globe together to promote the need to live in harmony with nature and the earth. The day also highlights the need to restore what we have degraded.
The Big River Watch – Thursday 23rd to Wednesday 29th April 2026
The Big River Watch, organised by The Rivers Trust, invites you to participate in a simple citizen science activity twice a year – once in April and again in September. This helps build a picture of river health across the UK and Ireland.
Stop Food Waste Day – Wednesday 29th April 2026
Stop Food Waste Day is an environmental awareness day that seeks to educate and ignite change around the issue of food waste.
Food waste is an expensive issue. It’s estimated that 32% cent of all food purchased per year in the UK is not eaten.

No Meat May – 1st to 31st May 2026
The No Meat May challenge is a month-long endeavor to eliminate meat from your diet for all 31 days in May.
Be Kind to Animals Month – 1st to 31st May 2026
A month dedicated to looking after all types of animals, from animal welfare to the challenges they face daily.
No Mow May – 1st to 31st May 2026

International Leopard Day – 3rd May, 2026
A day dedicated to the protection of the leopard, as their numbers decline.
Water Saving Week – Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th May 2026
Water Saving Week helps to be aware of our water consumption, allowing us to use water more wisely.
Endangered Species Day – Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th May 2026

World Bee Day – 20th May 2026
World Bee Day, not bidet which sounds the same, is aimed at showcasing the challenges bees face as well as the vital role bees and other pollinators have to keep people and the planet healthy.
World Turtle Day – 23rd May 2026
Annually, World Turtle Day is observed to encourage the celebration and preservation of turtles and tortoises. It also serves to increase awareness of the vanishing habitats of these species on a global scale.

The UK's largest nature challenge, 30 Days Wild, encourages people to register and engage in a single “random act of wildness” each day for the duration of 30 days in June.
